The seeds of ECOSHIFT germinated and grew alongside the cocoa trees Linda planted on Koh Phayam in 2018/19. But the road from farm to premium Thai cocoa beans is full of bumps and turns.
Successfully growing and harvesting cocoa pods is hard enough. Learning to consistently ferment and dry requires specialized knowledge to yield quality beans. The final step, selling, was uncharted waters.
Unable to visit her farm, Linda spent the COVID years designing solutions to help cocoa farmers grow, process, and sell their crops. It needed to be a low-cost, effective, and sustainable alternative that included as many smallholder farmers as possible to achieve volume and – the essential ingredient – committed buyers.
Linda, a newbie to the cocoa sector, contacted Thai chocolate makers, industry experts, soil specialists, tech providers and sustainability organizations to develop a model. With a clear vision and mission and the support of prominent professionals, ECOSHIFT Thailand was born.
ECOSHIFT is a socially and environmentally responsible company based in Thailand that aims to empower smallholder cocoa farmers. We supply sustainably produced, ethically sourced premium Thai cocoa beans to chocolate makers with end-to-end traceability and transparency to verify better practices.
Today, ECOSHIFT works hand in hand with cocoa farmers to enhance post-harvest skills, improve income, and build traceable, ethical, and farmer-led supply chains. Our mission aligns with multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals and centres on improving livelihoods through transparency, equity, and impact.

Increase yields through training and improved post-harvest practices
We support farmers with hands-on training in soil health, water use, fermentation, and drying to reduce losses and consistently produce high-quality beans that meet international standards.

Secure better prices through a collective and trusted buyer program
By organizing farmers into a national cocoa collective and connecting them with committed buyers, we improve income predictability and reward quality with traceable, fair transactions.

Build a traceable and EUDR-compliant supply chain
Using our digital tools, every step of the supply chain is verified — from farm to buyer. Producers, makers, and consumers gain transparency, while exporters ensure compliance with EU and global regulations.
FROM FARMER TO LOCAL HUBS
Rather than centralizing infrastructure, we support distributed value chains — where producers themselves can evolve into processing and collection points, embedded in their local ecosystem.
This approach enables ownership, resilience, and adaptation to diverse contexts.

OUR GROWING ORGANIZATION
ECOSHIFT has formed strategic partnerships with leading chocolate makers in Thailand.
They are committed to improving the local market by supporting smallholder farmers with fair pricing and long-term contracts.
We have support from a leading Thai University, which allows us exclusive access to over 1,000 cocoa farmers and critical soil data in Northern Thailand. We will collaborate to grow their presence in the South.
Our ECOSHIFT Thailand advisory panel includes experts in cocoa, soil management, and fermentation techniques who are helping to improve the industry.
